Formative Search has partnered with one of the fastest growing renewable energy companies.Our client is an early stage growth Solar PV developer with a focus on frontier solar markets in emerging Asia. They have a proven track record of excellence in execution and are looking for a highly motivated Business Development Manager to join their fast-growing team.

Reporting to the Head of BD in Thailand, this role will be responsible for the identification and development of Renewable Energy projects in Thailand, utilising the existing knowledge of the energy landscape in the region. The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge of Solar and Wind projects, and an understanding of the development process in Thailand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identification of new project investment and/or Development opportunities

  • Monitor and assess renewable energy policy in Thailand

  • Regularly meeting and following up discussions with select industry players and project partners (relationship management)

  • Recommending new business leads/strategies for managing market/project risk & leading diligence activities

  • Understanding potential partner requirements and drafting/agreeing key terms of partnership agreements

  • Monitoring key economic drivers for each opportunity

  • Working closely with local and national government to fully understand and map wind and solar energy development plans

  • Compiling and managing a comprehensive database of proposed wind and solar projects in Thailand

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (Engineering or Business Related)

  • 5-10 years of experience in industrial sales

  • Previous experience in a similar role in the renewable energy industry preferred

  • Good understanding of the energy market and key players in Thailand, as well as the policy outlook

  • Pro-active, disciplined and strategic with the desire to challenge oneself to achieve excellent results

  • Good negotiation & relationship building skills, able to build and maintain rapport internally and externally

  • Must be fluent in English and Thai (both oral and written), other ASEAN languages a distinct advantage

  • Strong demonstratable prioritizing and time management skills
