COUNTRY HEAD

Based in Philippines

Formative Search has partnered with one of the fastest growing renewable energy companies. Our client is an early stage growth Solar PV developer with a focus on frontier solar markets in emerging Asia. They have a proven track record of excellence in execution and are looking for a highly motivated and entrepreneurial-minded General Manager to join their fast-growing regional development team.

This person will identify, source, evaluate and negotiate C&I solar PV projects, and will be responsible for defining and executing the sales and marketing strategy of the C&I project business. 

What will you do?

  • Oversee day-to-day business operations, manage profit and loss statements and account for costs and revenues and allocate budget resources for supplies, equipment, marketing, and personnel;

  • Develop the Company Business Plan with corresponding assumptions and targets;

  • Accomplish any subsidiary objectives of the Company by e.g. establishing action plans, allocating resources, preparing budgets, and monitoring key result indicators, and making appropriate midcourse corrections;

  • Build the Company corporate brand/image by collaborating with customers, government, and employees; and enforcing ethical business practices in close cooperation with company ;

  • Lead on all contacts and engagement with any government units in Philippines

  • Lead on all contacts and engagement with any potential clients and opportunities for each Project;

  • Arrange and procure all national, state, and local permits, approvals and licenses (however described) that are required in connection with each Project;

  • Lead the legal structuring and documentation for each Project and perform all necessary due diligence for each Project;

  • Use own network and develop a company network to source, evaluate and negotiate C&I solar PV projects;

  • Identify strategy to reduce customer acquisition costs - Call center/virtual sales office, website, social media/digital channels, network referral program, etc.

  • Manage key client accounts - Prepare and present proposals to clients;

  • Standardize and negotiate project sales, EPC contracts and lease/Power purchase agreements ("PPA contracts");

  • Establish partnerships and JV with developers, EPC companies, Real Estate companies or any other company that could accelerate sourcing pipeline of C&I projects;

  • Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants, and lead hiring process if necessary;

  • Set and continually manage project forecasts with team members and other stakeholders;

  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, required documentation, and presentations; and

  • Develop best practices and tools for sourcing and evaluating projects.

What will you need?

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in managing energy/infrastructure businesses, experience in solar PV is preferable.

  • Master's in Engineering, Business or Economics is a plus.

  • It is essential that the General Manager possess strong communication skills, including the ability to give persuasive presentations.

  • The ability to respond well to questions and analyze complex requirements is essential.

  • Technical proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite. Including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Projects.

  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients and other departments.

  • Strong understanding of energy systems, including the proper usage of basic components and conventional installation and interconnection methods.

  • Strong network of C&I players and government agencies in Philippines.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a strong ability to explain complex technical topics and systems.

  • Solid decision-making skills required to weighing the costs and benefits of various options and determining the best course of action to achieve company goals

  • Good problem-solving skills to analyzing past and current performance and recommending objectives to improve productivity and profitability.

  • Proven ability to work and excel in a fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial environment and to perform multiple roles and functions simultaneously.

  • Experience working for an international organization strongly preferred.

Someone who has been involved in a senior commercial level within the Energy landscape in Philippines, ideally in Renewables, will be really a great fit for this role. The successful General Manager will be covering the most dynamic economies of the 21st century in Renewable Energy, and will be presented with some amazing opportunity as the industry in Philippines grows.
