TECHNICAL SERVICES DIRECTOR
Based in Taipei, Taiwan
Formative Search have partnered with Asia’s largest asset investment manager within the APAC region. They have successfully invested in and divested a number of renewable energy IPP in the region and continue going strong developing the business across the region. The firm has a large pipeline of generation assets, which will see them become one of the biggest platforms in the market. The team in Taipei is growing and key positions have become available in both Technical and Commercial Management position.
We are recruiting for a Technical Services Director, who will be expected to lead the technical function, including conducting site visits, preliminary grid survey, liaising with grid consultant on grid strategy, drafting and/or reviewing site designs, responsible for technical write ups of any permitting application or tender proposals, identifying key equipment suppliers and EPCM subcontractors, monitoring EPCM price trends, reviewing technical specifications and drawings of EPCM contracts and leading the construction management of projects.
Roles & Responsibilities :
Assist in site identification of utility scale solar projects from a technical perspective
Leads the identification and securement of grid for prospective solar projects
Leads the overall design and determine key specifications of utility scale solar projects in Taiwan developed by the Company, ensuring conformity to local regulations including engineering standards, building and grid codes
Responsible for preparing realistic project schedules and budget for the solar projects developed by the Company
Leads the selection of suitable suppliers and subcontractors for the solar projects developed by the Company
Responsible for the commercial negotiations of EPC contracts with suppliers and subcontractors
Leads the project management of solar projects developed by the Company and ensure projects meet the target project schedule timeline
Ensures that consultants, suppliers and contractors comply with contract requirements including design, cost, schedule and all other requirements for the successful execution of the quality work and construction progress
Represent the Company in meetings with regulators, landowner groups and project stakeholders
Assist in managing local government, community relationships, suppliers and contractors
Assist in securing permits and licenses required for the construction and commissioning of solar projects
Performs other duties as requested by the Company
Completes all lawful directions in a timely manner
Conduct one-self in a professional manner that reflects the core values of the Company
10+ years of experience in the energy industry, preferably within the technical perspective. Power plant experience is a plus, but any renewable energy background will be considered
Minimum a bachelor degree in Engineering (electrical preferred) or MBA.
Strong interpersonal leadership skills. High energy levels and a team motivator.
Self-driven and with ability to operate under high level guidance only.
Assertive and persuasive personality. Strong negotiator. Excellent in stakeholder management and in communicating across all levels.
Demonstrated ability to analyse, identify and resolve problems.
Track record of leading and coordinating several construction sites simultaneously.
