We are seeking a motivated Junior Legal Counsel to join the legal team of a prominent international shipping group. This role offers a unique opportunity to support a dynamic in-house legal and treasury function, working closely with finance and legal professionals across the business.

Key Responsibilities:
- Review, draft, and negotiate documents related to ship finance transactions and treasury matters, including term sheets, loan/security documents, swap agreements, and corporate authorities.
- Assist with vessel sales/purchases, new financings, loan drawdowns, mortgage releases, and vessel delivery processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams on vessel documentation, insurance, compliance, and corporate secretarial duties (including KYC documentation).
- Liaise with external law firms, bankers, ship registries, and third parties.
- Maintain and update legal files and documentation.
- Manage transactions, including monitoring conditions precedent, approvals, fees, expenses, invoice payments, and deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Formal legal qualification with a university degree.
- Practicing lawyer qualification in England & Wales, Singapore, or another common law jurisdiction preferred. Non-qualified legal professionals may be considered too if you have the relevant experience
- 1-2 years’ legal experience, preferably in-house or at an international law firm.
- Shipping and/or finance experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; effective team player with a proactive mindset.
- Ability to quickly build relationships internally and externally.
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and time management capabilities.
- Self-motivated with a desire to develop professionally and take on increasing responsibility.
