We’re partnering with a global leader in renewable energy to find a Commercial Director who will be at the forefront of structuring and delivering large-scale clean energy agreements across Japan and the Asia-Pacific region. This role can be based in Tokyo.
About the Role
You’ll be responsible for securing and managing long-term wholesale electricity contracts to support a multi-GW renewable energy pipeline. This includes originating and negotiating Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), tolling arrangements, and other bespoke offtake solutions—working closely with internal teams and external partners to meet customer needs while optimising risk and returns.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support commercial negotiations for PPAs, tolling, and other revenue agreements.
- Drive origination and execution of offtake deals in Japan and the wider APAC region.
- Build and maintain strong networks with industry stakeholders, off-takers, and developers.
- Support M&A, due diligence, and market entry strategies.
- Monitor and analyse energy market trends, carbon markets, and policy developments.
- Oversee contract implementation to ensure obligations are met and value is maximised.
What We’re Looking For
- Extensive experience in power transactions and renewable energy deals.
- Proven track record in originating, negotiating, and closing bankable PPAs.
- Deep understanding of energy markets, policy, and commercial risk.
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, engineering, law, or related field (postgrad desirable).
- Japanese language skills highly regarded.
