The Chief Investment Officer will lead all investment activities for a rapidly expanding energy infrastructure platform focused on battery energy storage and renewables in Japan. This executive will oversee deal origination, structuring, and execution, while maintaining close alignment with institutional investors and strategic partners to ensure disciplined capital deployment and long-term value creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the company’s investment strategy across BESS and related energy infrastructure assets.
- Originate, evaluate, and structure new investment opportunities, including project developments, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
- Manage financial modelling, due diligence, and investment committee processes.
- Lead portfolio management, optimising capital structure and asset performance.
- Coordinate closely with external investors, lenders, and partners on financing and governance matters.
- Develop and mentor a high-performing investment and finance team.
- Contribute to overall corporate strategy, risk management, and stakeholder reporting.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in project finance, private equity, or infrastructure investment, ideally in energy or renewables.
- Proven track record leading complex transactions in Japan or the wider Asia-Pacific market.
- Strong grasp of Japanese energy regulations, project economics, and financing structures.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Fluent in English; Japanese proficiency strongly preferred.
