About the job

Our client is a leading global investment firm specialising in infrastructure and real assets. It invests across sectors including energy transition, digital infrastructure and transport, and has an established, growing presence in Asia-Pacific. The Singapore investment team is seeing strong growth in deal flow across the region, particularly in ASEAN.

The Opportunity

This is a newly created role that brings dedicated financial due diligence capability into the deal team. It sits at the earliest stage of the investment process, before external advisors are engaged.
While the team assesses whether an opportunity should go to the investment committee, this person will go deep into the target’s financials. Their job is to find what matters: the red flags, the value drivers, and the questions the deal team needs answered.

It is a specialist role, not a generalist investment position. It suits someone who wants to move from advisory to the buy side and apply their diligence skills directly to investment decisions.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the financial due diligence on new investment opportunities from first look through to investment committee
  • Analyse target companies’ historical and forecast financials in depth, including quality of earnings, net debt, working capital and cash flow
  • Identify red flags, inconsistencies and areas for further investigation, and explain clearly to the deal team why they matter
  • Build key analytics and metrics, including value drivers, trends and normalised earnings, to support investment decisions
  • Present findings and recommendations to the deal team and senior investment professionals
  • Help define the scope of external advisors’ work and review their findings once engaged
  • Develop consistent diligence frameworks and approaches across the team’s pipeline
  • Work closely with the deal team throughout, as a dedicated part of the investment process

Experience and qualifications

  • 5-8 years in financial due diligence, typically within Big 4 Transaction Services or a specialist advisory firm
  • A strong accounting foundation and a proven track record of deep financial analysis on transactions
  • Experience presenting diligence findings to clients or senior stakeholders
  • Chartered Accountant or CPA qualification (or equivalent)
  • Exposure to infrastructure, energy, utilities or other real-asset transactions
  • Deal experience across ASEAN markets

This role is not suited to generalist investment backgrounds such as investment banking. Depth of financial diligence expertise is the priority.

Personal attributes

  • Naturally curious, with an instinct to ask why a number looks the way it does
  • Detail-oriented and comfortable working deep in the numbers
  • Sound judgement on what matters to an investment decision and what doesn’t
  • Able to communicate complex findings simply and with conviction
  • Collaborative, and able to work as a trusted partner to the deal team

What’s on offer

  • A move to the buy side with a leading global infrastructure investor
  • Direct involvement in investment decisions across a growing Asia-Pacific pipeline
  • A newly created role with scope to shape how diligence is done within the team
  • Exposure to senior investment professionals and a strong learning environment
  • Competitive remuneration, based on experience and track record
