The Financial Engineer will design and implement quantitative models to optimise energy trading operations, manage financial risks, and support strategic decision-making. This role blends technical expertise, market knowledge, and collaboration with traders and risk managers to deliver commercial impact.

- Modelling & Analytics: Build and enhance pricing, risk, and trading models for energy markets, including derivatives and structured products.
- Loss Control: Develop frameworks to minimise losses through risk avoidance, prevention, and diversification.
- Market Insights: Analyse large datasets to identify trends, forecast prices, and assess credit risk.
- Simulation & Forecasting: Run power system simulations and perform scenario-based forecasting.
- Collaboration: Work with traders, risk teams, and stakeholders to align strategies and risk practices.
- Client Engagement: Advise clients on market conditions, validate pricing models, and tailor solutions.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory and internal policy requirements.
- Technical Development: Write and maintain robust financial applications (Python, Java, Django).
- Continuous Improvement: Adapt models and systems to evolving markets and technologies.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s or PhD in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar quantitative field.
- Experience: 3+ years in quantitative finance, ideally in energy trading.
- Technical: Strong Python skills; experience with statistical tools and financial modelling software.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid grasp of energy markets, trading strategies, and risk management.
