About the job

A leading battery energy storage (BESS) project developer is seeking a motivated Investment Analyst / Associate to join their Tokyo team. The company is actively scaling its portfolio of utility-scale storage projects and playing a key role in driving Japan’s clean energy transition.

About the Role
The successful candidate will play a hands-on role in evaluating, structuring, and executing BESS investments across Japan — from early-stage analysis through to financial close. This is a high-impact position for someone who wants to be at the forefront of Japan’s energy storage market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain detailed project finance models for BESS projects
  • Conduct investment analysis, including DCF, IRR, NPV, and scenario/sensitivity analysis
  • Support debt and equity fundraising processes from preparation through execution
  • Assist with transaction execution, due diligence, and financing documentation
  • Monitor and analyse Japan’s power markets, storage revenue streams, and regulatory landscape
  • Prepare investment memoranda and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate with Japanese lenders, investors, advisors, and cross-functional internal teams

Required Qualifications

  • 2-5+ years of experience in renewables, infrastructure, project finance, or energy investment banking
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities
  • Solid understanding of Japan’s power market and regulatory framework
  • Native-level Japanese and business-level English
  • Tokyo-based or willing to relocate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with battery storage or power market revenue modelling
  • Prior exposure to institutional investors or lenders in an infrastructure context
