Formative is partnering with the distributed generation arm of a global energy leader to appoint a Project Manager in South Korea. This role will oversee projects from late-stage development through construction and delivery, ensuring they are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest technical and quality standards.
 
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of distributed generation projects in Korea, from design finalisation through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partners, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation, proactively identifying and resolving potential risks or delays.
  • Lead project reporting and provide regular updates on progress, risks, and milestones to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, permitting conditions, and environmental requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (development, finance, operations) to support smooth project execution and financing processes.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with contractors, suppliers, grid operators, and key stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project execution, safety practices, and quality assurance.

 
Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, renewable energy, or related discipline; advanced degree a plus.
  • 5+ years’ experience managing renewable energy projects in Korea.
  • Strong track record of delivering projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Familiarity with Korean permitting processes, grid connection requirements, and EPC contract management.
  • Excellent organisational, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluency in Korean and proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Willingness to travel to project sites across Korea.
