Job description

Formative Search is currently collaborating with a renewable energy developer based in Singapore. Their expertise lies in creating customised renewable energy microgrid solutions for remote areas across the world. The company is seeking a Business Development Manager who will be based in Singapore and responsible for expanding the market beyond Southeast Asia.
 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and evaluate business opportunities in remote and off-grid regions, focusing on the Caribbean, Pacific Island, Australia, and similar areas.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for market entry and expansion into new geographies.
  • Conduct market research to understand local regulations, industry trends, and potential clients in the luxury hospitality sector.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including luxury hospitality groups, resorts, and other potential clients.
  • Lead negotiations and finalize agreements with clients and partners to establish pilot projects.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to customize solutions based on client needs and project requirements.
  • Demonstrate a proactive and entrepreneurial approach to business development, identifying innovative solutions and strategies.
  • Take ownership of the entire business development cycle, from lead generation to deal closure.
 
 
Key Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in business development, ideally within the renewable energy sector, with a proven track record of successful market expansion.
  • Good understanding of solar and microgrid technologies, as well as the unique challenges and opportunities in remote and off-grid areas.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to target regions.
  • Ability to adapt to diverse cultural and business environments.
