Formative Search is working with a leading renewable energy developer with a presence in Japan, Australia, Singapore
and South Korea. They are looking for a highly motivated Civil Engineer to join their Project Development and
Execution Team in Tokyo, Japan. The role primarily involves the development and construction of PV (photovoltaic)
power plants in Japan.
What you will be doing:
• Manage the design, evaluation, and optimization of civil works for PV power plants in Japan, considering
technical and economic criteria.
• Design drainage systems based on experience, international standards, and local criteria.
• Coordinate geotechnical testing with external suppliers and integrate the test results with civil and PV design.
• Utilize software such as Helios 3D or PV Case for complex site evaluation and design.
• Generate and oversee the creation of project documentation, including drawings, quantities, and construction
process methodologies.
• Implement best practices for design, project engineering, and management.
• Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to obtain competitive market prices.
• Manage external engineering support, coordinating site design with plant design and ensuring compliance with
local permitting requirements.
• Collaborate closely with the investment team to secure new development projects and project financing for
PV projects.
What a great candidate would look like:
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in relevant civil engineering roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D (knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Helios 3D, or PV Case is considered a plus).
• Advanced communication, networking, negotiation, and relationship-building skills in a Japanese business
context.
• Fluent in English, with the ability to communicate effectively in a multi-lingual and multi-cultural
environment.
• Ability to work as part of a high-performing professional team, delegate tasks, and manage their completion
by others.
