Job description

Formative Search is working closely with a newly set-up renewable energy developer to hire a Country Head in South Korea. As the Country Head, you will play a pivotal role in executing the business plan aimed at scaling up the platform with two initial seed assets. This position requires exceptional leadership skills, a deep understanding of the South Korean market, and a proven track record in the wind energy sector.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive the implementation of the business plan aimed at scaling up the platform with two initial seed operating assets.
  • Oversee all aspects of project execution, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and timelines.
  • Lead engagement with shareholders, including Investment Committees, management committees, and board discussions.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to shareholders on project progress, financial performance, and strategic direction.
  • Manage the underlying CEOs of the two SBCs, providing guidance, support, and strategic direction as needed.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration between the SBCs and the broader organization.
  • Lead and mentor a team of 5-6 initial staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Set clear goals and expectations for team members and provide ongoing feedback and support to ensure their success.
Key Requirements:
  • Must be a Korean national with a deep understanding of the local market, culture, and regulatory environment.
  • Minimum of 20 years of work experience, at least 5-8 years in the renewable energy industry, with a focus on wind energy.
  • Proven track record of success in developing, financing, and operating wind projects in South Korea or similar markets.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify and capitalize on new opportunities, navigate challenges, and drive growth.
  • Experience working with international stakeholders, including board members, investors, and partners, as well as a deep understanding of local issues and challenges.
