Head of Shipping (Green Energy/Hydrogen), Renewable Energy Producer & Operator, Location: Australia


Formative Search is privileged to be partnering alongside a Renewable Energy Producer leading the Global Energy Transition with their portfolio of large-scale hydropower, geothermal, solar, wind assets. They are committed in this Hydrogen/Renewable Energy space and are now looking to built up their Shipping Team in this exciting energy-transition phase. Thus, the search for a Head of Shipping (Green Hydrogen).  


As a Leader and Head of Green Hydrogen Shipping, you are expected to work in parallel with the business heads for green ammonia vessel conversion as the firm looks towards commercialising and marketing green hydrogen and determining the best methods for storage and transporting in the mid-downstream value chain.


This position has critical responsibility across technical development aspects of shipping, including but not limited to ammonia storage, transport, bunkering, but also developing appropriate infrastructure and methods of transporting and shipping of liquid hydrogen, LOHC and MHC.

Therefore, some of the key responsibilities would include you heading and creating a forthcoming team of Marine specialist/engineers and/or contractors in design, engineering and maintenance duties and govern the best engineering standards and specifications for the firm’s vessels and floating storages.


As you and the firm are the at forefront of innovation, you are an inspiring leader that takes initiative to solve problems, be that team player and collaborator between business leads and the shipping department to turn that hydrogen commercialisation ambition into a reality.




You are a Shipping veteran and leader in liquids (i.e. Oil & Gas) currently looking to transit into Green Energy / Low Carbon space. You are expected to set up and govern best practice engineering standards and specifications for the firm’s vessels and floating storage.


Having strong technical expertise and problem-solving skills, you are able to resolve, and value add the firm’s request for developing and construction aspects of vessels, shipping and transport technology within Renewable Energy, transport and storage of Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia.


A natural collaborator and team player, you can influence and cultivate good relationships with internal and external stakeholders for work execution and nurture aspiring talent in time to come and prepared to be based in Australia for this position.
