We have a unique and exclusive opportunity with a long-standing partner of ours, who is a key player in the Global LNG landscape. This opportunity is for their next Managing Director to be based in Taiwan, a country which is continuing to become a leader in LNG across the Asia region, and our client is in prime position to capitalize on this.
 
What will the Managing Director of LNG in Taiwan do?
Overall, the Managing Director will be expected to expand the client’s current LNG product offering to more customers in country, and develop new ones and take them to market. In addition, they will need to:
  • Mentor and train the younger members of the commercial team,  and be the face of the company’s offering in the public domain and market.
  • Structure and coordinate relevant deal and commercial agreements, and work closely with the various functions of the group.
  • Streamline and optimize the current commercial processes,  whilst maintaining market intelligence and assessing new market opportunities.
  • Managing the Commercial Operations Team and lead the business development team responsible for deal framing and delivery.
  • Develop commercial models for a range of new terminal services taking into account market requirements, terminal capabilities / operations and deal / project economics and pricing. 
  • Planning and leading commercial negotiations, and structuring and finalizing terminal use agreements and other commercial agreements to secure the business opportunities.
  • Leading engagements and negotiations with external stakeholders including regulator, deal counter-parties and other market participants. 
  • Managing other activities that have commercial / value implications for the company (e.g. managing electricity purchase strategies and its implementation).
Who is the Managing Director of LNG in Taiwan?
Ultimately, the MD is going to be an accomplished professional coming from the LNG domain in Asia Pacific. They are going to be someone who:
  • Has 15 years of relevant professional experience in global LNG/Gas environment with at least 10 years of commercial management and independent business development experience. 
  • Preferably hold an Engineering and / or business degree from a reputable university.
  • Shows strong experience and ability in developing and managing commercial agreements for services related to the oil and gas infrastructure, and purchase and sale of LNG or gas. 
  • Able to plan and execute negotiations for commercial transactions pertaining to LNG, natural gas and/or similar services. 
  • Incumbents with a good understanding of Singapore electricity and LNG/natural gas market including gas network code and gas transportation will have an advantage. 
  • Be a strategic thinker with an eye for details, with an ability to integrate cross-functional dimensions (terminal operations, finance and economics and legal) into commercial deal structuring and delivery. 
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to lead a team of professionals and deliver results through team efforts. 
  • Is mature and confident in managing internal and external stakeholders and gaining support from the stakeholders for the various initiatives undertaken.
