Solar Project Director

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the competitive negotiation and selection/management of EPC contractors for APAC solar and storage development projects

  • Ensure that global procurement policies and practices are instilled in the local processes

  • Lead and manage the local project delivery teams to ensure projects are executed on time, within budget and to the standards and quality level required to meet local and standards

  • Work closely with the engineering function to ensure that technical aspects of project activities are appropriately addressed

  • Manage EPC contractors and ensure performance under contractual arrangements and lead and resolve any dispute processes as necessary

  • Lead the development and timely delivery of project reporting on works and present as necessary to a range of audiences

  • Track all project deliverables and report regularly to management on status and issues

  • Proactively identify and manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and devise contingency plans

  • Lead and execute multiple projects per commitments and forecasts

  • Develop and champion best practice tools for project execution and management

  • Communicate project expectations effectively to project stakeholders

  • Prepare forecasts for construction projects across the region

  • Support priorities of other groups, including but not limited to: global procurement, quality, structured finance, etc.

  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans

  • Monitor completion of project items and issues, creating ongoing effective feedback and learning

  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Solution Code of Business Conduct

  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and company policies

  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned

  • Review and/or support the preparation of project management documentation and related QA documentation and procedures

  • Develop and update policy and procedures as required

  • Ensure processes are followed and are compliant with relevant legislation

  • Work closely with the in-house operational, project and legal teams

  • Build positive productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Assist project partners as required

  • Establish and maintain technical relationships with network service providers and other counterparties

  • Establish and maintain technical relationships with EPC contractors, equipment suppliers and consultants

  • Act as the key interface with global EPC and procurement personnel in relation to APAC projects

  • Provide regular assistance and training to staff and others as required

  • Team development, management and coaching on EPC aspects but also other pertinent skills required to support the EPC function

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to operate in a collaborative working environment

  • Ability to presents information both clearly and concisely

  • Strong communication skills both written and oral

  • Strong knowledge of cutting edge PV panel, tracker, inverter, battery and associated solar and storage technology

  • EPC contract structures, key principles, leading market terminology and contractual arrangements utilised international and within APAC

  • Procurement management and execution for solar, storage and related technology

  • Financial modelling particularly as it pertains to solar project costing with a focus on EPC, project yield and financial budgets on a project specific basis

  • Good understanding of PV system and solar and storage project engineering design
