Formative Search has begun working closely with one of the world’s largest Oil and Gas companies, whom are spending billions to become a truly diversified energy giant, promoting the use of Renewable Energy.
In Asia, where the focus of this energy transition is taking place, they are looking for a Wind Project Engineer to support the fast growth and build up their renewables business from its Headquarters in the vibrant hub of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Key responsibilities and duties:
Manage detailed layout design for the company's development pipeline of wind energy projects.
Evaluate project siting constraints, wind turbine technology, BOP (balance of plant) considerations, and wind resource data to optimize layouts and maximize project value.
Utilize performance modeling software to prepare project energy yield assessments.
Design on-site meteorological data measurement campaigns, analyze available meteorological datasets, and utilize MCP (measure-correlate-predict) methodology to assess project resource characteristics.
Determine suitability of specific WTG models for commercial consideration
Conduct site visits to support site evaluation, suitability, and due diligence efforts.
Participate in landowner meetings, community outreach events, and monthly construction meetings.
Interface with wind turbine OEMs to obtain technical information.
Collaborate with the business development team to support national, state, province and local permitting efforts.
Support the business development and origination teams with the preparation of investment proposals.
Work with the structured finance team to provide responses to lender and independent engineer due diligence questions throughout the project financing process.
Interface with the project management and operations teams leading up to and through project commercial operations.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required
At least 3 years in the wind power industry.
Experience in performing independent analysis and review of greenfield and operational generation facilities is preferred.
Strong understanding of wind turbine technology, tower design, and performance and siting considerations.
Knowledge of due diligence and risk assessment process.
Understanding of project contracts including power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, supply contracts, balance of plant construction contracts, and operations and maintenance contracts.
Experience with wind power plant construction activities or experience in wind project operations or maintenance.
Familiarity or experience with economic modeling for renewable energy industry.
Experience in the statistical analysis of wind data, including raw time series data validation and instrument troubleshooting/diagnostics.
